Court approves Gillfor acquisition of Teal-Jones operations
The B.C. Supreme Court approved the Gillfor acquisition of Teal-Jones' Surrey operation and Tree Farm Licence 46. Long-running Domtar and TimberWest log, chip and residual-fibre supply agreements had initially been left behind in the restructuring; after negotiations, Gillfor agreed to retain them before approval. The deal therefore moves operating assets forward without simply severing fibre obligations that have followed TFL 46 for decades.

FRA makes its diesel analysis public as fuel pressure reaches delivered wood
The Forest Resources Association released a public Technical Release Friday on diesel's impact on logging and log hauling. FRA says higher fuel costs are tightening contractor margins, raising raw-material movement costs and reducing predictability in delivered-wood costs. With EIA diesel at $6.529 per gallon, up 56.2¢ in two weeks, FRA says mills have been working with contractors to ease some of the burden. The operating question is how quickly payment terms and fuel adjustments respond.

Washington resets its older-forest plan at 55,000 acres
Washington DNR revised its structurally complex forest conservation target from 77,000 acres to roughly 55,000 acres, which will remain outside agency harvest plans through at least 2030 while DNR seeks authority for carbon-market and conservation-lease revenue. Because those acres were not in the current five-year harvest plan, the immediate supply effect is limited. The bigger business question is whether conservation can compensate trust beneficiaries comparably to timber revenue.

Pabineau First Nation launches an environmental intelligence business
Pabineau First Nation launched Mother Earth Watcher, a Nation-owned real-time environmental intelligence platform for major projects, developed with SeafarerAI. A non-repayable C$714,000 ACOA contribution supports governance, data stewardship and the business model; a C$2.96 million pilot is planned for 2027. The notable model turns monitoring from a project-compliance cost into a Nation-owned commercial intelligence service.
